ZINC
Zinc, an essential trace element, plays a large role in cell-mediated immune response, DNA synthesis, and wound repair.

Zinc is found ubiquitously throughout the body’s cells and functions in cell division, breakdown of carbohydrates, wound healing, smell and taste senses, and can also enhance the action of insulin. Zinc is required for the carboxypeptidases, enzymes, which is needed for the biosynthesis of insulin. Therefore, when the body does not have an adequate amount of zinc, the body may not produce the insulin needed to regulate blood sugar level. Zinc is mainly lost through feces which means people with gastrointestinal diseases such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and short bowel syndrome are at higher risk of developing a zinc deficiency.
